Thumb Butte trail #33 is open to hikers only. The trail is almost 2.2 miles long and is moderately difficult. Allow yourself about 2.0 hours to hike the entire trail. A short spur trail near the crest offers a good view of the Prescott area and a memorial to the 19 firefighters that lost their lives in the Yarnell fire. The steep east side of the trail and a few other steep places are paved in order to minimize soil erosion. There are interpretive signs along the trail.
It is best to go counterclockwise up the trail to your right at the beginning. It is hard packed earth and is not as steep going up as the other side.
2.2 miles +- elevation gain is 688 ft. Rated as a high moderate.
