Lower Table Rock Trail

Lower table Rock

I have traveled north to Oregon and will be here for the summer. My first stop is the Medford Oregon area to visit our son and his family.

My grandson along with his wife took me on a hike to Table Rock. Upper Table Rock and Lower Table Rock are two prominent volcanic plateaus located just north of the Rogue River in Jackson County, Oregon, and is managed by the BLM.

The hike we took was the Lower Table Rock trail. It is a 3.0 mile to 4.8 mile round trip depending on whether you go to the far west bluff or not. It is rated a moderate due to the distance and the Elevation gain of 822 ft. Lots of areas to stop for a view and to catch your breath! Trail surface is mostly hard packed earth with some areas of rocks.

Enjoy the view and look for the Vernal Pools. Vernal pools, also called vernal ponds or ephemeralpools, are temporary pools of water that provide habitat for distinctive plants and animals. I found one and it was teeming with tadpoles and fairy shrimp!
